Friday early hours the fire alarm goes off, there was no direction or explanation, so disorganised . When we got down to the hotel lobby we there was a group of women feasting Macas and heavily stinking of alcohol, and lack of teeth indicated other substance abusive issues, they weren't even guests at the hotel, yet nobody moved them on. At no point did the hotel apologise for the false alarm and lack of direction or information. When I expressed my concern the next morning of how the staff need to practice a fire drill protocol, it was like talking to an unconfident teen. We are regular guests at your hotel, and have an upcoming trip in The Pullman in July, and this has left a bad taste in my mouth. If you wish to be seen as a 4 star hotel, then I suggest training up your staff, and not allowing non guests to hang in your lobby. Due to the nature of my work, I have reviewed plenty of hotels in Australia and overseas for a trade gazette, and right now your hotel standards are on par with a Holiday Inn, so disappointed.

City central hotel needs a spruce up

This combined Pullman/Mercure Hotel is in a great spot on the city but could benefit from some TLC. Like a lot of hotels, the experience changes when you leave the reception and foyer areas. The accommodation floors smell musty, the carpet has seen better days, the paint is aged and the rooms (my room at least, #1101) smelled damp upon arrival. The fittings are good quality. The lighting is very good. I found the bed to firm and uncomfortable (for my preference) and the pillows poor quality. That said, this hotel is priced affordably, so you wouldn't expect what you would get for $500 per night. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
