Two bridges between two banks
The Palais de Tokyo is an important contemporary art centre with a modern art museum. There are plenty of young artists who would love to be residents at the famous Palais. On the far bank of the Seine, near the Champ de Mars hotels, the Musée du Quai Branly pays homage to civilisations from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. It was a project led by architect Jean Nouvel and opened in 2006.
The Pont d’Iéna directly links the Trocadéro to the Eiffel Tower and was completed in 1814. It’s guarded by four warrior statues (one Greek, one Arab, one Roman and one Gaulish). The Pont de Bir-Hakeim was made in 1878 and is unusual in having two floors, one for the Metro, one for pedestrians and cars. Both bridges are officially listed historical constructions.
