The Wine Parlour
The Wine Parlour in Brixton is both passionate and informal; founded by Chix and Dan in 2009, it’s become one of the city’s most popular spots for wine tasting. More than just a bar, The Wine Parlour is the place to come to discover more about wine. The Wine Parlour offers evening wine tastings on a weekly basis, which include a welcome glass of bubbly, sampling of six wines, cheese and charcuterie all with one of their qualified wine tasting hosts. Tickets cost £27.50 – book online and get ready to enjoy all the wine goodness.
Vinoteca
Vinoteca has been pouring great wines in welcoming, informal bars since 2005 - it’s the place to go for great wine and food. Created and run by Brett Woonton, Charlie Young and Elena Ares, Vinoteca combines high quality, characterful wine with a selection of paired dishes created from fresh and seasonal produce. Keep an eye on their website, where they have regular wine tasting events, special supper clubs and Vinoteca Dinners, which include wine tasting and the restaurant’s best dishes.
Berry Bros & Rudd
Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain's oldest wine and spirit merchant, having traded from the same shop since 1698. They have a Wine School and an exclusive fine wine and dining venue in London's St James’s, with two Royal Warrants for H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. The Prince of Wales. What’s more, it’s a great place for brushing up your knowledge. Treat yourself to a special wine tasting here; at the Tutored Tastings, experts will guide you through a range of wines, helping you develop your understanding of fine wines. They host everything from blind tastings to producer focused events and region-specific introduction, held in their Napoleon, Sussex and Pickering cellars beneath the shop in the heart of central London.
Wine Unearthed
Wine Unearthed was set up by Victoria and Adrian Bucknall. In 2003, after careers in banking, they packed in their day jobs to immerse themselves fully in wine – spending 18 months travelling the world’s wine regions, meeting some of the worlds best winemakers and tasting some great wines too. Today, at Wine Unearthed, they host monthly London Wine Tasting Days – hosted in Mayfair, they are a great introduction to the world of wine, in a informal, relaxed way. The day includes tasting a selection of 15 wines, as well as a 3-course meal, paired with wine, for £95 per person. Bargain.
