In the Botafogo neighbourhood, São João Batista cemetery makes for a contemplative stroll, with eclectic architectural styles on view. While there, you may wish to pay your respects to the grave of one Geraldo Ribeiro, chauffeur of former Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek. Why? It is rumoured that the plot is not occupied by the chauffeur, but the president himself. Indeed, both died during a grisly car crash in 1976 and it is said the bodies were mistaken one for the other.
