Tucked into the urban landscape of the Itaim Bibi neighbourhood at number 352 of Rua Amauri is what appears to be a sphere levitating between two buildings. A UFO? Come back down to earth. La Casa Bola, or “the ball house”, was built by the architect Eduardo Longo in 1979. His inspiration? Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece “2001: A Space Odyssey”, of course. R.
