The city of Santa Marta is located in the historical territory of the Tairona people, who were famous for their gold work. During an expedition in 1552 a conquistador seized an enormous quantity of gold. He hid his loot somewhere in the city. But where? No one knows. But he left a clue. The gold was buried at “the three crosses”. That could be referencing a hill in the Libertador neighbourhood, on which three hundred crosses are planted. Except no one is sure. Care to give it a go?
