Have you heard of the Dolly Sisters? These identical twins were cabaret stars back in the 1920s. They were fans of Deauville, its beach and especially its casino. It all started in 1922, when the sisters signed a contract with the Royal hotel for six weeks of shows. That is how they fell in love with the resort. But they were also among those who caught the gambling bug and spent many nights at the betting tables. Queens of the night, the Dolly Sisters were early influencers who attracted a host of celebrities, royals and wealthy businesspeople. Casino staff long remembered the extravagance of the twins, including the generous tips they used to hand out.
