La Grande-Motte

Place Saint-Jean, 34280 La Grande-Motte

What do Stonehenge and La Grande-Motte have in common? In theory, nothing. The former is a world-famous megalithic site. The latter is a seaside resort designed by Jean Balladur in the 1970s. In La Grande-Motte, make your way to the bridge of Passerelle Saint-Jean to enjoy the sight of a perfect solar circle. It is a play on light and architecture that goes back to ancient civilisations. With its concrete pyramids inspired by the Mexican site of Teotihuacan, the seaside town even looks like a City of Gold.
