1 Place Balard

Art Enthusiasts
Despite its vast size, Place Balard has only four addresses. At number one, there’s a café – but not just any café. This is Terminus Balard. Situated at the corner of Rue Leblanc, this unique building served as the setting for The Passerby (1981), the last film starring Romy Schneider. The director employed a bit of artistic license in the cinema adaptation of the eponymous novel, as Joseph Kessel set his café Sans Souci in the district of Pigalle in the 9th arrondissement. Today, Terminus Balard is home to jazz and blues concerts every Saturday. The shows are always popular with fans of the genre, as well as those who simply want to drink to the memory of an actress gone too soon.
