Not far from Parc Monceau amidst posh townhouses and Haussman-style buildings, one edifice in particular stands out. And how! Who would expect to find on a corner in this neighbourhood a home built in the Chinese style? Unlike other such structures in Paris, this one isn’t a temple. Rather it was the fantasy of a rich art dealer, Ching Tsai Loo, who had it built in 1926, in spite of his neighbour’s protests. It now houses a private museum offering exhibitions on China. It’s said that the interior decor is magnificent, but it’s not quite what one imagines when talking about Paris.
