TRENDY MARKET IN HISTORIC HALL

Berlin

Arminiusstrasse 2–4

The Arminius Market Hall in Moabit is one of the last old market halls still standing in Berlin. The charming building with its high steel roof opened in 1891 is now a trendy meeting place for young people. At the same time, it is an authentic Berlin institution with historic local roots. Today, the market is as busy as it was in the early days, bursting with old Berlin charm and delightful imperfections. The carrots, cucumbers and potatoes are not always neatly presented and the voices behind the stalls can be a bit coarse. That’s Berlin for you. If you’re lucky, while you’re eating or strolling around the market, you’ll get to hear the amazing pianist who likes to play his Steinway grand piano at the back of the hall. That’s when the atmosphere here is really fantastic.
