ART IN A TUNNEL

Düsseldorf

KIT – Kunst im Tunnel, Mannesmannufer 1b

KIT – which stands for "Kunst im Tunnel" (art in the tunnel) – is an underground venue where young artists exhibit their works. A rather unusual art temple, it is only recognized as such by those who know where to find it. To get to this cave of up-and-coming art, you have to go through the KIT Café on the Rheinuferpromenade. A dark modern building with lots of glass – at least this one is hard to miss. From there, take a large staircase or lift down into the underground exhibition area. The tapering space measures 800m2. For a sneak preview of your visit, a small peephole on the promenade lets you catch a glimpse of what's to come.
