Greifswald

Eldena Abbey, An der Klosterruine 17489 Greifswald

The History of Architecture
Just five kilometres east of the city centre is Greifswald’s most mystical spot: the ruins of Eldena Abbey. The remains of the former Cistercian monastery from the Middle Ages are located in a wonderful park and somewhat hidden, with red brickwork and bats that flutter overhead. When it’s warm enough, the people of Greifswald use their Eldena as a stage for events. Don’t miss the amazing atmosphere here during the Eldenaer Jazz Evenings in July – when the bass and saxophone riffs echo through the ancient abbey walls. Goosebumps guaranteed!
