Simply observe the church over the bulb-shaped cupola held up by a turret, or the imposing walls outlining a Greek cross form, or the little windows, and you’ll have the impression of being miles and miles away from Bari. This is what you’ll perceive upon visiting the church: to cater for the many Russians visiting the city to venerate San Nicola, a Russian Orthodox temple has been built in Bari in the 20th century. Not long ago, during a ceremony to which the heads of state of the two countries also took part, the keys of the monument were handed over to the Patriarch of Moscow, and the Russian Orthodox Church now holds the property of the building.
