Bari

Enoteca De Candia - Via Buccari 30

After having savored a nice glass of wine at the Enoteca De Candia, ask the waiter if you can walk down to the bottom floor. A staircase will lead you to the horseshoe-shaped room sequence, where you may taste – with your eyes, in this case – the thrill of almost one-thousand objects related to the wine world.
They include an old metal flask-bottling machine, a champagne-bottling machine, hemp discs to absorb contaminants from wine, several other tools, and especially a wide selection of prized bottles to admire.
This is no other than the museum of the De Candia wine bar, a historic venue in downtown Bari, opened by a family of wine-makers as a restaurant, became a bomb shelter during WWII, and today is a point of reference for tourists and locals to taste and admire wine tradition.
