The heavens above the city seem very close, as is represented on the canvas painted by Paolo Cavagna in the church near his home. Below the clouds of heaven holding up Peter, Paul and Christopher, the artist has chosen to depict Bergamo as a panoramic scene like that on a postcard from long ago. The precision he uses to show the buildings of his city turns the painting into a documentation of how Bergamo looked at the beginning of the 1600’s. This makes the Glory of Saint Peter, Saint Paul and Saint Christopher much more than a painting.
