Bologna

Museo di Palazzo Poggi - Via Zamboni 33

Equally as important as it is unknown, the Museum of Palazzo Poggi is a treasure chest of history and science in the heart of Bologna's university area. In the spaces of the antique Science Institute, the first Italian public centre dedicated to the research of scientific study, it is still possible to visit the laboratories of experimental physics, the preparations, the medicines and the instruments of the time. In the halls where astronomy and anatomy were taught, art from the sixteenth century is the main contender on the canvasses from the Padana region and murals by Pellegrino Tibaldi, Prospero Fontana and Ercole Procaccini the Old. The collection of ship models built during the sixteenth century is unmissable as well as the original document of the Magna Charta Universitatum.
