Today it is hard to picture Bologna when it was a city on water similar to Venice, with navigable channels that crossed the residential area and brought the boats all the way to the Po River and even to sea. The opening in the red wall of the old town will show you an urban tract of the Reno Canal and, running between the houses of Bologna, will immediately remind you of a Venice landscape.
