Majani - Via De' Carbonesi 5

Chocolate lovers to the rescue! Apart from tagliatelle with ragù, salami, tortellini and lasagne verdi, there is a sweet motive for visiting Bologna. In 1832, when chocolate was only liquid and drunk in a mug, Majani invented the chocolate tablet: the Scorza is the first solid form made with cacao powder, finest granulated sugar and the scent of vanilla. The company is destined to become a Real Casa supplier and creator of the renowned Cremino Fiat is from Bologna: made in 1796 at Teresa’s ‘Laboratory of sweet things,’ next door to the Basilica of S. Petronio, Majani builds an amazing liberty edifice on Independence street to contain his own company before eventually moving the business out of town. Nowadays Bologna chocolate can be found in the shop in Via De' Carbonesi 5. Make a note of the address!
