A HORSE WITH NO HEAD

Catania

Via Crociferi

The legend is set in Via Crociferi, a place where the nobles lived and where their love stories and conspiracies took place. Not wanting to be noticed or recognized, they spread the rumor that at night a horse with no head wandered in the area. A courageous young man made a bet with his friends that he’d have gone there in the middle of the night and hammer a nail under the Arch. The man did so and indeed the hole can still be seen today. Unfortunately he didn’t realize that he had also hammered a part of his cape and once he got down the ladder he’d used he felt as if captured by the headless horse… and dropped dead. He had won the bet, but the legend of the horse was incredibly proven true.
