MILAN'S STAGE OF HONOUR

Milan

Palazzina Appiani - Viale Repubblica Cisalpina

Built at the start of the nineteenth century, the Appiani luxury apartment building is the most exclusive look-out spot on Sempione Park. When Napoleon became emperor of the city of Milan, he ordered the construction of an entire building in the green heart of Milan thought of as a stage of honour for the emperor and his family. Facing the Brera Civic Arena, the balcony which hosted Bonaparte is connected to the lounge which preserves an enchanting decoration made by Andrea Appiani: as with the internal structure, the picture is inspired by Imperial Rome and the ancient circuses. The imperial stage of Milan is preserved at the centre of Sempione Park.
