711 trees, 5000 large bushes, and 15000 plants amounting to a total of 94 species, cohabiting in a common environment made of two 18- and 26-floor towers. The buildings have an automatic irrigation system, include the counseling services of a team of gardeners and biologists, and occasionally also benefit from the help of pest control animals such as ladybugs, butterflies, and bats.
This is the Vertical Forest, a 131-apartment complex in a forest developing all across its length. Its green spirit earned Boeri’s creation the 2014 International Highrise Award as the most aesthetically pleasing and innovative skyscraper in the world.
