Naples

Castel Sant'Elmo - via Tito Angelini 22

The road that the Neapolitans call Spaccanapoli, the long strip that cuts through the city, will not appear on your high-tech GPS. Spaccanapoli (a word literally meaning break-Naples) is the sum of seven streets: Pasquale Scura, Maddaloni, Benedetto Croce, San Biagio dei Librai, Vicaria Vecchia, Forcella, Giudecca Vecchia, dividing the city center in two equal parts, with un unparalleled precision. The street also unites various artistic highlights, such as the Cathedral with Piazza del Gesù, the shops of craftsmen and antique dealers, and a sequence of alluring street food stands. Castel Sant'Elmo, a medieval fortress and now a museum hosting events and art shows, atop the Vomero hill, is the perfect observation point to view the city split in two.
