AN OASIS IN OLBIA

AN OASIS IN OLBIA

Olbia

Stagni di Olbia - Via Lumbau 6

Olbia is not only an area of sea and beaches. In the inland part of the city, between the sea and the delta of the Rio Padrongianu River, there is a wetland area with a series of swamps connected to the sea. Enclosed by rocks that peep out where the water is shallow, the swamps have formed in the area where the affluents of the fresh water river conveyed. All over it, enjoying the rich vegetation of the wetlands all year long, there is a myriad of species of birds, including seagulls, great cormorants, and black-winged stilts. No crowded beaches here, but a real natural oasis just a stone’s throw away from the sea.
