Parco della Favorita

He had been banished from the royal city and had moved to Palermo as individual sovereign to his estate in the zone between Piana dei Colli and the Pantano di Mondello, which nowadays is inside the Natural reservation of Monte Pellegrino. To create his royal court, and inspired by the name of the Portici, Ferdinando expropriated the terrains to numerous families in the zone. This is how the hunting estate came into being, a place to have fun and go fishing and enjoy the outdoors. In the most Neapolitan area of Palermo, nowadays there is the stadium, the hippodrome, and the city’s largest green area.
