THE SWEETEST SOUND

Parma

Auditorium Paganini - Parco Ex Eridania - Via Toscana 5/A

From sugar factory to a place where equally sweet produce is made. The former factory of Eridania sugar is now the Auditorium dedicated to Niccolò Paganini, the 1800s violin player and composer called up by Marie Louise, duchess of Parma, to conduct the ducal orchestra. The architect Renzo Piano has been instead called up to recycle the structure, a massive construction with a smokestack and a second building that was once a workshop. The architect added two glass walls to the existing cement walls, creating a dialogue with the external park and transforming the structure into an enormous loudspeaker generating a perfect, sweet sound.
