Osservatorio Valerio - Orti Giuli, Via Belvedere
Born in the late 1800s as a meteorological observatory – an idea of politician Lorenzo Valerio – the scientific tools ahead of their time aren’t the only attracting trait of the Osservatorio Valerio.
The structure, located in the Orti Giuli park, is easily distinguished by its white color, tower structure, rotating dome and shutter typical of an observatory.
Along with the library and data archives, one of the most interesting artifacts found inside it is definitely the nephoscope, a tool used to observe clouds. Inside this alien-looking tower, the geophysical research has never ceased to endure.
