WHAT LIES BENEATH THE TOWN AND IN THE FOREST

In the 1700s, an archeology researcher announced the discovery of the lucus Pisaurensis, an ancient place of worship just outside town, adjacent to a sacred forest. Unfortunately the scholar never completed the related paper, but the little Roman statues, the coins, and all the other artifacts found beneath the city of Pesaro are preserved in the Museo Archeologico Oliveriano (Oliverian archeological museum).
Among the collections including the findings of the archeologist and bibliophile Annibale degli Abati Olivieri, there are quite curious ancient objects. Above all, the Larario Puerile dated 2nd century A.D., consisting of a series of tin objects not only including statues of gods, but also children’s toys. Of equal fascination, there is the anemoscope (the instrument used to measure wind current): a marble disc with a hole in the middle to hold the wind vane, and with inscriptions related to the winds.
