Reggio emilia

Parco del Popolo - Via Nobili, Via Allegri, Viale Isonzo, Piazza della Vittoria

There exists a place where you can stroll between majestic Lebanon cedars, not too far from a gigantic oak. Then, passing by the old sycamore trees, you may meet Ludovico Ariosto, Mariangela Melato, or Correggio. And don’t forget the elephant, that often appears in statues, fountains, and other monuments. The Parco del Popolo (the people’s park), is not just a public park in the city center, but a work of great historical importance, an open-air art gallery and a corner of peace. Statues from the Duke of Rivalta’s villa, a celebratory fountain, a fascist altar, and other monuments made by the artists of Reggio Emilia, adorn the paths and Neoclassical flowerbeds. Of course, there are benches and a playground for kids too.
