“Il Popolo Giusto vuole la neve” means “the good citizens want snow”, and they wanted it so bad that they wrote this phrase on the wall of a house in Vicolo Venezia. The reason for this unusual writing is as simple as it is remote: the inhabitants of this working-class neighborhood, named “the Good Citizens”, used to live off the little money they made with occasional jobs; like shoveling snow, for example. But the true secret behind this vintage graffiti is hidden in the antifascist language: it was the end of the 1940s, and what the ordinary citizens really waited for was the fall of the fascist regime and the end of the war. And the snow fell.
