When they decided to renovate their company palace, the Elders of Reggio added a new tower for council archives. The edifice retained the unglamorous name of Bordello Tower due to being joined onto a building that contained a house of pleasure. Only in 1851 did the Archpriest of the cathedral request the council change the name of a lane which joins via Toschi to Piazza Casotti and it turned into Archpriest alley, while the Bordello Tower still keeps its old name.
