On January 7th, 1797, the people crowding the council chamber were acclaiming the national flag: a green, white, and red drape. The plaudits filled the elliptical chamber up to its balconies, and anticipated the historical moment that was about to come: the banner designed by Giuseppe Compagnoni to officially represent the Cispadane Republic would’ve later become the tricolor flag of all Italians. A museum dedicated to the symbol of Italian unity has been inaugurated just beside what has become the Tricolor Chamber. Let the flag of Italy wave!
