Ideas are colorful, they weave into each other more often than not, and even if they are stuck on a roof, they will still keep moving: this is the message of the work Wall Drawing #1126 Whirls and Twirls 1, made by Sol LeWitt in 2004 for the Reading Room of the Panizzi library.
The spiral of whirlwinds and whirlpools that seems to blossom from the heads of the readers is the result of 2 months of hard work: just like in the Renaissance, the American artist led a team of assistants that has adapted the original drawing to the space and has drawn it using traditional tools such as strings and wooden compasses.
