The bridge depicted in the emblem of Rimini is the structure crossing the Marecchia River from Roman ages to this day.
Entitled to the Emperor Tiberius, though its construction had begun under rule of Augustus, the bridge boasts more than 2000 years of history, a legendary nickname, and an equally exceptional resistance.
The upstream balustrade bears two engraved symbols similar to goat’s feet, with a direct reference to Satan. The ‘footprints’ giving it the nickname of Devil’s Bridge were more likely used as docking points for goods transportation carts. The five-arcade structure has also overcome the bombardments of the Second World War. Diabolically resistant.
