Mura medievali - Via delle Fosse

In Via delle Fosse, there is a succession of medieval watchtowers along castrobarcense walls. Their construction dates back to the first half of the 14th century, when Guglielmo di Castelbarco, with ties to the city of Verona, claimed what was simply a small castle in an undefined area and erected the primeval city walls named La terra (the earth), with four doors, around it. The Castelbarco borough was thus a reality, and its protections, still standing solid after hundreds of years, were widened under the rule of later governments to create the current structure of the castle of Rovereto.
