We all have a friend who, like they say in Syracuse, is “as punctual as the clock of the Immacolata”.
The 1800s mechanical clock on the belltower of San Francesco all’Immacolata (St. Francis of the immaculate conception) – a church of the 1300s that was restructured first in the 1600s then the 1700s – originally belonged to the church of Sant’Andrea dei Teatini (St. Andrew of the Theatins), which was demolished.
Just like your friends who forget rendezvous, are never on time, and simply ignore the meaning of punctuality, even the clock of the Immacolata has always struggled to be just quite sharp.
