BALL GAMES ALLOWED

Siracusa

Riva Giuseppe Garibaldi

If there is too much water all around Ortigia to play ball, then why not turn the water into a big playing field? The waters around Ponte Umbertino have always been the “playing field” on which canoe races were held, with each crew team associated to one of the many sailing clubs. As well as the regattas, the 2016 Canoe Polo World Cup was held in the sea around the island, where the sport is popular like all water sports. Canoe polo is similar to soccer or water polo, with the difference that players move on their kayaks and hit the ball with their paddles to score goals in their opponents’ nets. If ball games are not allowed on land, just dive in and play in water!
