Stezzano

Villa Grumelli Pedrocca Maffeis - Via XXV Aprile 3

When Villa Pedrocca was ceded to the Maffeis family – an important dynasty of Stezzano who owed its richness to agricultural land and silkworm breeding – it wasn’t only the name that changed. The Rococo façade was modified to a Neoclassical style, as the artistic taste of the 1800s dictated, and the windows were embellished with geometric elements. Furthermore, two turrets were added to make the entrance more majestic, and the two wings at the side of the building were modified to give more balance to the construction.
In spite of the external cleanup operation, luxury and richness still distinguish the villa’s rooms, which host the city hall and library of Stezzano today: strong colors, a succession of decorations, grotesque, geometric, and coffered elements bring the spaces to life.
