Sometimes the Saint Francis of Paola Bridge can transmute into an embrace, which makes for a wonderful moment. The 400 metre long metal structure which joins the Mar Grande with the Mar Piccolo is used every day by the countless fishermen's vessels. When big ships need to go through, the bridge, which is divided in half begins to rotate first one part and then the other, just like two arms which open towards the Mar Piccolo. When the ship moves along the canal, the crew gathers to respond to the greeting of the people standing on the coast and reciprocate the embrace of the swivelling bridge
