Taranto

Jonian Dolphin conservation - Molo Sant’Eligio, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 1

The dolphin is the symbol of Taranto, because it is the animal which appears in all its legends. Taras sees a dolphin while making some sacrifices for Neptune and two other of the city’s deities, Falano and Arione have been saved by the same animal. As if to show their appreciation, dolphins have been colonising the sea of Taranto for over 4 thousand years, thanks to the amplitude of blue fish in the area. To get to know the most intelligent and easy to get on with mammals in the sea, go on the Jonian Dolphin conservation boat and head out to sea at dolphin city.
