The sculptor (from the nearby marble capital Carrara) Ferdinando Marchetti immortalized her with her eyes shut, her chin on her fist, and a wreath of flowers in the other hand. The girl is the protagonist of numerous legends, which have been transmitted orally from generation to generation, and show the affection of the people of Viareggio towards the young statue. Another curious sight of the local graveyard is a mechanical nativity scene commissioned by a parish priest in the early 1900s: still perfectly functioning today, without the need to insert a coin, the mechanism of the twelve-motion statuettes may be activated by pressing a button.
