The beach umbrellas outlining the Viareggio resorts, extending elegantly all the way to Forte dei Marmi and Marina di Pietrasanta, just seem to never end.
Viareggio, though, also host a beach that is free of beach resort equipment: the Lecciona is a costal area extending from the Darsena to Torre del Lago, and is recognizable by the typical sand dunes covered in vegetation.
Extremely important for their contrast to land erosion by the sea, the spontaneous bush isn’t the only green element of the area: the shoulders of the Lecciona are an immense pine grove, and beyond it there are the wetlands belonging to the natural parks of Migliarino, San Rossore, and Massaciuccoli.
The flora, the sand, and the sun contribute to making the Lecciona a wild-looking and adventurous site.
