Tilburg used to have many textile factories in the past. In the 17th century, they used urine in these factories to dye wool, for example, the blue color of smocks. A document from 1689 still exist on which is explained that factories used 'hot stincking piss or soap". A bucket urine yielded half a penny, hence people saved their urine in jars.
