COMMUNIST FAST FOOD

Warsaw

1/3 Nowomiejska street

Warsaw has its own hot-dog with … mushrooms. And it’s not a vegetarian substitute for popular fast food! It's a specialty originating in the PPR times. It all started when Warsaw acquired hot-dog machines. Though, it was almost impossible to buy them since the nationwide sausage shortage. But this didn’t stop a Pole. A hot-dog bun was filled with fried mushrooms and onions. Back in the day, the mushroom specialty could be purchased at almost every corner. Today it's available only in one place in Warsaw - “Murzynek” in the Old Town.
