A 'SHAMBLES' OF A MUSEUM

Bewdley

Bewdley Museum, Load Street

Bewdley Museum provides fascinating insight into the history and development of the town of Bewdley, the lives of the local people and the trades and crafts of the surrounding Wyre Forest area. Its collections include local social history, geology, archaeology, fine art and numismatics, housed across several well-preserved buildings: an 18th-century slaughterhouse known as the Butchers’ Shambles, a brass foundry dating back over 250 years, the 19th-century town jail, and a WWII air raid shelter. There’s also a beautiful walled herb garden and pond. The town’s award-winning Jubilee Gardens are next to the museum.
