"IF YOU GO DOWN TO THE WOODS TODAY…"
Birkenhead
Eastham Country Park, Ferry Road
Situated on the Wirral, Eastham Country Park offers superb views across the River Mersey estuary. Its history dates back to 1846, when the area was landscaped with gardens. A zoo was later added as a visitor attraction, with a bear pit, monkey enclosures and a lions’ den. Today, the 100 acres of broadleaf woodland with its network of surfaced paths lends itself to peaceful walks, birdwatching and orienteering. There is a ship to play on, dens to be built, a sculpture trail to follow, and even ‘spot the monsters’ fun in the woods – you could be in for a big surprise! In May and June the bluebells are amazing.
