Enjoy stunning flying displays at the Turbary Woods Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary, or stretch out your arm to allow a majestic hawk to swoop in and perch. Dangerous? No, kids do it all the time. Nestled in a woodland setting, the reserve is home to over 90 birds of prey, including eagles, falcons and even some unjustly vilified vultures. Many of the resident birds have been rescued, in keeping with longtime local tradition. Legend says Round Table knight Sir Lancelot once helped a damsel in distress by rescuing her falcon from a tree. While he was doing his noble duty, the woman's husband waylaid the good knight. Lesson learned - leave the bird saving to the pros.
