Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Cottage Lane

Anne Hathaway’s Cottage was built in 1463, originally as a small farmhouse. Anne was born in 1556, and it was here that William Shakespeare courted his future wife. Like to know how William won his true love’s heart? Visit the Tudor Courtship Exhibition to find out how romance worked in Tudor times. Make sure to give yourself time to explore the surrounding nine acres of woodland, orchards and gardens, dotted with sculptures inspired by Shakespeare. The kids will love the talking tree and the willow cave.
