ALL ABOARD THE HERITAGE RAILWAY!

Royal Tunbridge Wells

Spa Valley Railway, West Station

Pulled by steam and heritage diesel locomotives from the 1960s, take an old-fashioned train ride on the Spa Valley Railway line that runs between Tunbridge Wells West and Eridge. There’s a wealth of things to see at stops along the way. Hop off at Groombridge, where you’ll find the original ticket office and station entrance. Trainspotters will find a great selection of railway books. Give yourself time to visit nearby Groombridge Place with its Drunken Garden, a favourite haunt of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The forest has giant tree swings and a recreated pirate ship from the Crusoe TV series. Thirsty? Stop in at one of the delightful village pubs, the Junction Inn and the Crown.
