A secret spot for off-roaders and 4×4 dune bashers in the desert-land of Dubai is Jebel Meleiha, or more popularly known as 'Fossil Rock'. The name is synonymous with the abundance of tiny fossilized fragments within the mountains in the surrounding area. In order to relish in a tranquil camping spot you will have to drive a little deeper into the desert as Fossil Rock is commonly visited by dune bashers and extreme sports fanatics. Jebel Meleiha is a half hour drive from Dubai – to get there, take the Sharjah Airport Road toward Dhaid and exit at the 9th interchange.
